- Over the last few years our clients have asked us to use our specialist knowledge
and experience in the executive coaching field to help them develop internal coaching
capacity. As a result we have designed and delivered masterclasses both for senior
line-managers, who wish to improve their coaching abilities, and for HR professionals
in charge of recruiting, managing and evaluating a panel of external executive coaches.
'Leader as Coach' Masterclasses
- These masterclasses are designed to develop and build coaching capacity among senior
managers. They are often particularly valued by organisations that are strongly
committed to establishing a 'coaching culture'.
- Coaching is an integral part of leadership. The more senior a manager becomes, the
more he or she must rely on getting things done through others. The must coach their
people to solve problems and deliver results rather than trying to solve all the
problems themselves.
- However, successful executives are not always skilled coaches. Frequently very task-focused,
they may find that there is 'never enough time' to coach, or feel that it is simply
easier to 'tell'. Others may have a set repertoire of coaching approaches which
work well in some situations but not in others.
- Our ability to add value comes from the tailored way in which we are able to support
and enhance the level of sophistication with which leaders coach. Small shifts in
coaching approach and style can dramatically open up new performance possibilities.
- Through raising the executive's self-awareness as a coach and helping them tackle
the more difficult coaching challenges in a really practical and applied way, our
masterclasses have proved popular and effective. For more information about this
aspect of our work and a Case-study of a typical event, please contact us.
Masterclasses for HR
- These customised workshops are designed to support the Human Resources and Learning
& Development communities to develop and sustain best practice when developing
internal coaching capacity and/or the use of external executive coaches.
- Executive coaching is increasingly seen by companies as an invaluable adjunct to
internal talent development initiatives. However, there is also a growing recognition
of the importance of using external coaches in a systematic and thoughtful way.
